Courses & Admission 2024 at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology
Thapar University admission process for B.Tech is based on the score obtained in the JEE Main. Result for JEE Main 2024 session 1 is released by NTA. Students can register for the session 2 of the JEE Main 2024 exam by March 02, 2024 to become eligible for admission to this university. For Thapar University admission to M.Tech, GATE score card is required. GATE 2024 exam has been concluded and the result is scheduled to be announced on March 16, 2024.
The TIEUT eligibility criteria for admission to various courses changes as per the courses and curriculum. However, for the undergraduate courses such as BE and B.Tech, the students must have secured good scores in the joint entrance examination. For B.Tech admission, the students must have secured good scores in JEE exams. In addition, they must have secured 60% marks in the 10+2 standard.
The eligibility criteria for B.Sc and BA courses do not require students to pass any competitive exam. However, they must have secured 60% marks in the 10+2 standard. The BBA and B.Com course requires students to pass the 10+2 standard with a good score.
For MBA Admissions
The students must graduate in any discipline with 50% marks. The students who have done postgraduate must have a postgraduate degree with 50% marks. They must have good scores in CAT/MAT/XAT/ Thapar Entrcae Test/CMAT, GMAT, etc. CA, ACWA, and ACS students must have passed all the subjects of intermediate exams. For MA/M.Tech Admissions
The students must follow eligibility criteria for admission in various courses under MA and M.Tech. The students must have completed BE or B.Tech degrees in their respective domains. They must also have valid GATE scores in their respective domains. Thapar University offers five types of scholarships for needy and talented students. The five scholarships are targeted at different sectors of society. These scholarships have different eligibility criteria.
Eligibility Criteria for Thapar Scholarships
The different eligibility criteria for five types of Thapar University Scholarships are discussed below.
- Merit Scholarships I : The aggregate marks must be more than 95%. The student must rank in the first 25 as per JEE score, irrespective of the branch of the study. TIEUT Scholarships will be continued if the student successfully scores 8.5 CGPA in the same year.
- Merit Scholarships II : The aggregate marks must be more than 90%. The following 30 students will be eligible based on JEE rank irrespective of the branch of study. It will continue for the students if they successfully score 8.5 CGPA in the academic year.
- Merit Scholarships III : The first 10% of the admitted students are based on the Thapar Institute Entrance Test scores. They must have scored more than 85% in 10+2. For continuation, the AGPA must be 8.0.
- Merit Cum Means Scholarship (Normal) : Gross family income is less than 5 lakh. The students must achieve a CGPA of more than 7.0 in the academic year to continue the scholarship.
- Merit Cum Means Scholarships (Special) : Gross family income is less than 5 lakh. The students must achieve a CGPA of more than 7.0 in the academic year to continue TIEUT Scholarships. The students require a recommendation from DoSA and a committee consisting Dean of the institution.
How to Apply for Scholarship?
- The students must apply for TIEUT Scholarships to the respective administrative department of the institution.
- They are required to form scholarship applications and mention their income details and educational details.
